A device claims wifi, Btooth and Zigbee compatibility — which is preferred?

Hi all

I have a ‘boiler’ switch controlling our Hot Water booster. Automations work already with the SmartLife App, (eg Press for 10min On). Id prefer to use Gladys. The box calls it a Smart Switch, and ‘Powered by Tuya’, and Specifications says:

Wireless Communication: Wifi 2.4GHz | Zigbee | Bluetooth

I have a Sonoff USB interface for Zigbee, and was hoping to use that, but will use whatever works. Trouble is, when I try Integrations > Devices > zigbee2mqtt > Discover, nothing appears (except the old comment ‘No new device discovered, please click on scan button’, which I ignore).

I admit that the sonoff device with RasPi server itself are a few brick walls away, but on the same storey.(and very near a mesh wifi server) so perhaps that is the reason for this Zigbee failure.

But how did SmartLife app connect? It does seem to be direct rather than connecting remotely via Tuya — which I’d like to avoid, of course — so Id love some advice please!

Cheers, Barney

Did you put the device in pairing mode? You can lookup online how to put it in pairing mode

I would avoid the Tuya integration like the plague, it’s cloud based, you’ll need the renew the tokens every 6 months, can have downtime when their servers are down, it’s hell
